My name is Léon Spikker.
I’m an architect & industrial designer with an entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for technology.
I’m currently running design technology company Spatial Instruments and developing modular social housing at Moos in Amsterdam.
Previously, I ran an architecture firm and a 3D printing software company and am dedicated to bringing design and making together through technology.
As 21st century human beings, there’s an arsenal of novel technologies and materials at our disposal. It is our challenge to apply these in ways that provide durable, efficient and attractive conditions for people to live and work in, while staying well within the limits of our finite environment.
My expertise.
Computational design
Digital design tools can make designs more efficient, expressive and easier to change. Staying on top of new developments like generative design and building new computational tools greatly expands the possibilities of architectural design and manufacturing.
Digital Fabrication
Novel manufacturing technology unlocks completely new dimensions in architectural design with techniques like 3D concrete printing and robotic assembly. I like to push new technologies to their limits; challenging manufacturers to get the most out of their expertise.
Research & Development
Bringing new production technologies into practice requires teamwork. I like to collaborate with teams of material scientists, mechanical and electrical engineers, software developers and structural engineers to develop new manufacturing techniques and their applications.
